In a developing world full of technological advancements, as consumers we have become harder to please and, essentially, very picky customers due to the vast array of technology available to us, especially when it comes to mobile phones – there’s loads of them!
But that has also meant that developers have had to continually push the boundaries, enabling us to experience wonderful creations on a regular basis. It’s easy to forget how far we’ve come, really. Remember Snake on your old Nokia brick phone?
Of course we’ve had some fantastic Android phones, particularly in 2019, but there has also been some absolute shockers over the years. The amount of disappointing Android devices has certainly declined in recent times – although there are a few stinkers every now and then – but in the past we were exposed to shoddy devices regularly.
With all of this in mind, we thought we’d go through some of the worst Android devices of all-time to highlight further just how lucky we are today and how far technology in this space has come.

HTC EVO 3D
The HTC EVO 3D was billed as the next best thing at the time, but consumers were still highly disappointed with it when it was eventually released. With its “revolutionary” 3D camera HTC put on the back – not one camera by the way, but TWO – it was a bit of a let down. Although the 3D option is decent enough, it is a bit gimmicky. The battery life was abysmal too, with many users reporting that their device would only last up to 8 hours. Despite its superb build quality, it was all too easy to scratch and chip too, making this phone one hell of a disaster.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7
Of course we all want a phone to perform a number of functionalities, whether you’re keen to keep on top of your emails, play your favourite game of blackjack at a trusted online casino or order an Uber to come and save you from a dead party, they satisfy your needs, especially these days. But this latest entry, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, attempted to go up against Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, but failed massively. Shortly after its release, shedloads of reports emerged of phones exploding, with Samsung left with no option but to issue a worldwide recall, with the company offering to refund or exchange the device. The device itself – if you had one that didn’t catch on fire – was actually pretty damn good, but what followed after its release wasn’t. There were even reports of replacement devices catching on fire too. What a shambles.
Freedom 251
The appeal of this one was its $4 price tag, although a $4 phone will of course have endless flaws, you’d expect that. But the main gripe with this phone isn’t because of that, it’s purely down to the fact that the $4 price was only viable with government help, which never came. As expected, the Freedom 251 then earned a lot of $4 pre-orders in India, but they didn’t arrive. Sickening really and, ultimately, a scam from unscrupulous people.
Kyocera Echo
Kyocera has never made a really great Android phone and this is another failure. Announced as something “magical” and “exciting” this was, in fact, a horrible brick of a device, with abysmal over-exaggerated bezel, buggy software and terrible battery life. The Kyocera Echo is easily one of the worst Android phones of all time.
